How to integrate SoftLayer’s Object Storage OSNEXUS QuantaStor

Within QuantaStor you can select any storage volume and make a backup of it to your favourite cloud storage provider. OSNEXUS QuantaStor can be integrated with Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage and IBM/SoftLayer Object Storage. In this post I will explain step-by-step how you can integrate QuantaStor with SoftLayer’s Object Storage to backup your storage volumes. You can also turn cloud storage into an NFS share making backups easier and cheaper with automatic compression, de-duplication and encryption of all your data.

Add Cloud Credentials to QuantaStor

In the QuantStor Web Administration, select the Cloud Container Tab, then in the Cloud Storage Provider pane, right-click on SoftLayer Object Storage, and select Add Credentials.

All Object Storage accounts requested by child accounts under the Master Account are visible to and accessible by all child accounts. Care should be taken to ensure only the appropriate Object Storage account is utilized.
  3. Select a specific Object Storage account, then select the data center for where the Backup data should be stored.
  4. The Object Storage Data Center Cluster screen provides statistics on the utilization within the account.
  5. Click on View Credentials to get the account data needed for the QuantaStor configuration.
